Dichroic Fused Glass Jewellery Workshop

with nina bulley

A two day dichroic glass course

Saturday 27th & 28th September 2008 - FULLY BOOKED.

Saturday 22nd & 23rd November 2008 - 5 places available.

The workshop will teach you how to make fused-glass jewellery from start to finish. You will learn how to:-

Cut glass correctly, about the types of glass and compatibility, designing your item, kilns and firing schedules, all about dichroic glass, silver, gold and copper inclusions, use of frits and stringers. You will learn how to use a grinder to shape your piece and will cover other subjects such as engraving and slumping and where to purchase materials. We will also go through drilling a hole through the glass and making your piece into a finished item of jewellery using silver findings and wire wrapping.   During the weekend you will be able to make numerous pendants along with some drop earrings and studs using all the various techniques listed above.  We also have a selection of books for you to browse through. As time allows you will have free time to concentrate on your particular choice of fusing and resolve any technical problems you may be having.  This is an all bells and whistles course - I teach you everything you will need to know about dichroic glass - you can even start your own business!  All glass and dichroic glass used for your jewellery is included in the price.

Experience is not required for this course, but if you do have some that’s ok, as this course is for all levels. Nina Bulley is a professional glass jeweller, she sells her work throughout the UK in art galleries and has nearly 10 years experience of working in glass. She has won a national award for her glass jewellery and regularly appears in magazines with her work.

The classes will start at 10.00am and finish at around 4.00pm. A light lunch and snacks will be provided throughout the day, and a selection of materials will be provided, all of which are included in the price.

Nina only runs two courses per year, normally during winter months only.  The above courses are run from Nina's studio at home which creates an informal, relaxed and cosy environment with a permanent coffee pot on!
